Scattered Mom to CEO of the Household!

Who Doesn’t want to be Organized and Stylish?

I was always a fan of post-its, Post it notes covered my desk, refrigerator, wallet, and life!   I almost put one on my daughter once to remind me to take her to dance class! All my important information, to do lists and reminders, were on Post-Its! It was a sticky mess!

My husband and I were sitting in our office one day and he asked me for a password for a website. I went over to my desk drawer and started shuffling through my gigantic pile of Post-Its…

He looked at me like…what the hell are you doing?  I said, “What, I’m looking for the password”  He started laughing…hard, and then so did I!  He asked, “Seriously?  This is how you keep up with our important information?  What else is on all those things?  I said, “Birthdays, gifts to buy, doctors names and numbers, addresses, babysitters numbers, reminders to pay bills, kids doctor appointments, school and daycare activities” And then I realized, I had a Post-It for everything!

I needed something different. I needed an organizer that catered to my life as a busy MOM.   I needed…  A MomAgenda!

When I got my first one it was as if I had hired my own personal assistant. She was Organized, Stylish and Pink!  Just what I needed to keep up with this crazy thing called motherhood. I was finally able to take control and organize my kids, my husband and MYSELF!

It’s become my Secretary, Friend, Diary and occasionally…my Therapist!

But don’t take my word for it, let Nina Restieri, the Founder of MomAgenda and Organizational Expert walk you through it page by page:  She does it more justice than I ever could.   Take a look ladies, and soon you could be tossing out that pile of Post-Its or whatever else you might be hiding in that desk drawer!

  1. Sounds like a wonderful tool! I have long been a firm believer in the organizer concept! But I’d like to add a new thought…if not being able to predict your days was frustrating for you, then you are feeling exactly as your toddler does every day! They need that structure and predictability every bit as much as we do and I’d like to propose a solution (please forgive the shameless plug, but I really do believe in this!)…www.mytimecalendars.com! We cater specifically to these young kids who are not yet fluent readers but still want to know what’s going on. What makes us different from other calendaring sites? We use a growing library of clipart to represent activities and events as well as allow our members to upload their own images and photos for a truly customized calendar/chore chart for their kids! Check it out for yourselves and watch as your kids start to do their chores without being told and start being ready for activities before you even get to nag them!

  2. I’m sooo not organized… (but should be) I need ot get better before I become a mama!!

    Happy SITS day!

  3. This is s neat concept and I would love one but the only thing that puts me off is I have 7 kids and it only has room for organising 4 kids…..wonder if she does a large family momadgenda ;o) Must chect it out.
    BUT otherwise great idea.
OHHH congrats on being featured blogger for the day at SITS
Hugs Nicki who found you at SITS

  4. Hello!! I have lists all over the place! I have a list problem. lol Congrats on being FB today!! I hope you have a great SITS day!!

  5. I’m not a mom, but live and breathe by my desktop organizer. Although, I’d admit to using index cards for to-do lists and post-its as well.

Read about you on SITS and am glad I stopped by.

  6. Love my post it notes. I have seen those, but I would forget to write in it, and then still have the post its! Congrats on being FB today!! Don’t you love SITS!

  7. I have always thought this was great and I have even bought several organizers. But after the first few weeks / months I forget to add info or too busy to add info. So then I bought the Wizard…..an electronic organizer….and that went south after a few months as well. No, what I need is someone to fill my organizer for me. BTW….how did she get all that internet site info typed into that journal? Plus, the problem with hand written information such as address / telephone, and appointments to be kept, tend to change. Then you wind up with ugly scratched out blocks and notes in the margins. :-/

  8. Stopping by from SITS. What a great idea. Actually, as I was reading about your Post-its I was thinking, “She needs a day planner!”

  9. That looks like a wonderful organizer! I just came across Cozi and it just might help me!

  10. Stopping by from SITS! Wow! What a great tool. And Jennifer, I agree with you that Toddlers need routine, structure and predictability, too.

  11. That is really cool! I don’t remember how I datyed organized before I started carrying a PDA. I’d be lost without my iPhone now, my whole life is in there!

    Happy SITS Day!

  12. This is why my husband got me a Blackberry & got the family a wall calendar. It’s hard to remember everything going on & I would forget my head if it wasn’t screwed on. I love the feeling of being organized, even if I’m still running behind on everything I at least know what I am supposed to be doing (even if I’m not actually doing it).

And congrats on your SITS day!!

  13. The older I get the more I need an organizer!! I just can’t seem to remember all things I use to when I was younger!! Ugh!! I am here from SITS!! Congrats on being today’s FB!!

    Enjoy your day!

    Jen

  14. That sounds like a great tool, I just wish they didn’t assume that the only people who need to organize that kind of stuff are moms. I have doctors numbers, passwords, gifts to buy, birthdays to remember, and events to go to, too. I’m not a mom. It always makes me sad when companies limit themselves by assigning such a name to their products.
Congrats on your SITS feature today!

  15. I need one of these! You should see my desk!

    …stopping by from SITS…

  16. I’m not a mom, but I’m busy and I LIVE by my planner. I would be so lost without it!

    Happy SITS day!

  17. Congrats on being the FB from SITS!
I [heart] organizers! Growing up, I always knew I was the odd-ball because I was never late, always had everything I needed, always prepared, and never forgot important dates! I have an organizer for different parts of my life: one for personal, one for weddings, one for my Bluebonnet, one for cleaning/errands, and one for bills. Yes, this may seem like a lot of organizers but it works for me! I have them all in a nice row on my kitchen counter between the cutest Noah’s Ark bookends (which matches my kitchen decor…and the notebooks are all colors that go with the decor as well). I find it easier to have them seperated than to try to put all of the information in one and get scrambled. To all the moms who haven’t tried one, get one! They’re great!! It does take some discipline to form the habit of using it but once you do, you’ll be glad you did!

  18. I love the post it story. Very cool, I used to write everything down on my regular wall calender but now I have a computer calender that gives me reminders.

  19. I will definitely be checking this out. I like organization, I dream of being the perfectly organized mother, I TRY to be the perfectly organized mother but alas, it alludes me! Perhaps this will be thing to finally get me to that peaceful place in my life where I never again have to ask, “Now where did I put that”?

  20. Congrats on being the Feature Blogger today on SITS!
Your story made me chuckle. I love the part about putting a sticky chumpy on your daughter, as a reminder! That reminded me of the time I wore one to high school that said: OUT OF SORTS. Just giving the nuns a heads up on what to expect from me that day.
I’m a fan of those little guys, too. I’ve got a stack here and there and everywhere!
    Wishing you a great day!!

  21. I’m not a mom yet, but I am pregnant and a teacher. So I really need one of these to keep my appointments and meetings straight! Thanks for the tips. Visiting from SITS.

  22. I would be lost without my “Life Book” as my kids came to call my agenda. It has EVERYTHING in it. I have never used this brand as my kids are now all grown up and out of the house, but it looks fab.

Congratulations on being today’s FB. I hope you get LOTS of visitors. Enjoy the limelight!!

  23. Nice!! Will it give teenagers an attitude adjustment? That’s my real need at this moment.

  24. I love it! You wanted to put a post-it on your daughter! What a great idea! I sooooo need to do that! I finally got a BIG whiteboard calendar! I stopped forgetting everything! I’m getting whiteboards for the high school guys so they can keep track of their assignments, too!

  25. This is a wonderful idea! I, too, uswe Post-It notes for everything under the sun! I will admit I do lose some things now and then or forget the occassional hair appointment because of it. This is perfect! Thanks! And congrats and happy SITS day!

  26. Funny, I use my agenda religiously and still manage to use post its like they’re the last invention on Earth 🙂 Congrats on being FB on SITS!

  27. I think you need an iPhone or blackberry!

Congrats on being the SITS featured blogger!

  28. I love it! I need one, plus I need something to do so I can write in it……Thursday: Dishes, play with baby!

  29. That is a fantastic idea. I know some moms who have huge computer screens w/ their family agenda on it, looks like some kinda of CIA Plan!
    LOVE Your site!

Enjoy your writing style – it’s like you’re talking to me!
    Have a great day!
    Gayle

  31. Ya know, this is terrible, but I buy all the bells-n-whistles organizers, and then don’t want to mess them up. It’s a curse, I know!

  32. congrats on being featured for sits!! im a post it lover…. but i love the flag post it highlighter the most. that thing is the msot useful product ever!

  33. cheers to you on your day in the sun, sitsta!! love your little corner of the blogworld!

  34. Congrats on your SITS day!!! I so need one of those organizers!! Right now I keep things on stickies and a calendar, which is falling apart quickly!!!

  35. Having one binder for everything is the only way to go when you are a busy wife and mom. These days I don’t have that much too keep up with (stay at home empty nester) so I seem to have reverted back to the post it note stage LOL! Oh well, grandkids are coming, so that’s liable to change again.

    Happy SITS Day!

  36. Happy SITS day! Thanks for sharing the organizer. I need to go check it out!

  37. What happens to people who have more than 4 kids? Do they have to buy 2 momAgendas? I think moms would look kind of weird carrying around 2 of those things. Maybe they would just have to put their 4 favorite kids in their momAgenda and pretend like the others don’t exist. Or better yet, they can tell their neighbor that she has to put their kids on her momAgenda bc they just don’t have room for them on their own momAgendas (you know what they say, it takes a village to raise a child).

  38. This story is funny. I do the same thing and then I can’t remember what post it note the information is on. I need to look into an agenda for sure.

  39. happy SITS day! i don’t have a mom agenda but i have carried a planner with me for years and i call it my BRAIN b/c without it, i DO NOT HAVE ONE!

  40. Congrats on your SITS day.

This looks like a great thing to have for us busy girls….

  41. I love the idea of a Mom Agenda. Even though my kids are grown and I will be having a new grandbaby – TODAY!

  48. Congratulations on your SITS day! I have to use tools like this to stay organized also! Thanks for the little tour!

  49. I have a regular black and pink Breast cancer planner and I love. I constantly go back and forth from paper to PDA to paper to PDA. I haven’t with this. I think I finally found the perfect planner for me. I just hope I can find it again next year!!

  50. Thanks for the recommendation.

I am still living vicariously through my post its. I may give them up, who knows. It is nice to find out I’m not along. Congrats on being the SITS featured blog!!!
