Are you trying to decide on a last minute Spring Break family getaway?  Me too, which is why I enlisted the help of some friends. The travel experts I called upon;  ChildModePosh BroodTravelMamas, MomAboard.  I also have some experience traveling with kids so of course I had a few picks to throw into the mix too!  If you are like me, sometimes planning a Spring Break vacation can be a very last minute decision, so I asked each of these savvy travel moms to share their top picks for a Spring Break family getaway.  So, lets see what kid-friendly hotels and resorts made the list…

1.   The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida   Posh Brood pick

The Breakers, Palm Beach, Florida. Is there any place more Posh? The Breakers Hotel was built in 1896, has been rebuilt twice because of fires and recently renovated to the tune of $250 million dollars. Set amidst 140 oceanfront acres, The Breakers is a luxury retreat that sets the standard for family amenities. The hotel always has families in mind — The Italian Restaurant is adjacent to the Family Entertainment Center, which includes a movie theatre and playrooms. Genius! Parents can canoodle over pasta and cabernet while their children play just a few feet away.

The Breakers has connecting rooms and suites, kids’ menus at every restaurant on property and offer a daily kids’ camp with endless activities. A basketball court and a large playground (complete with night lighting!) are also favorite places for smaller guests. Other features include: a spa, a private beach with chairs and cabanas, a fitness center, tennis and golf programs, world-class dining and five different pools: active, adult-only, baby pool, family pool and lap pool. Winter (high season) room rates start at $450 a night.

2.  Disney’s Aulani Resort in Oahu, Hawaii – Travel Mamas Pick

Disney Aulani Resort bursts with activities for all ages to enjoy, both together and apart. The whole family will love the Starlit Hui, a luau-esque show with live music, hula dancing, and Disney character finale (free for hotel guests).  Parents will love the Laniwai Spa with its outdoor hydrotherapy garden and menu of heavenly spa treatments. Meanwhile the kids will have a ball at Aunty’s Beach House, a 5,200-square-foot kids club.

The crescent-shaped Ko’Olina beach has waves gentle enough for little swimmers. Older kids and grown-ups can rent gear for snorkeling, paddle-boarding, canoeing, and kayaking. The main reason I love this resort, though, is because of Aulani’s pool complex, the Waikolohe Valley, complete with huge water slides, lazy river, and children’s fountain/splash area. There’s even a manmade lagoon stocked with fish galore, perfect for younger snorkelers.

3.   Great Wolf Lodge,  Niagara Falls ON  Child Mode pick

With it’s home away from home feel and limitless offerings, Great Wolf Lodge is one of our favorite choices for a quick getaway (especially when you don’t want to spend a bundle on airfare). Although the main feature at the resort is their incredible (and massive) indoor water park, families will find plenty of other activities to enjoy including a kids spa, Cub Club activity room, arcade, MagiQuest adventure and more!  Great Wolf Lodge has many locations to choose from.  Read the full review for Great Wolf Lodge over on ChildMode.

4.   La Costa, Carlsbad – SavvySassyMoms pick

La Costa is my favorite southern California resort because while it is uber kid friendly it is still upscale and tranquil.  The pool area has a splash pad and a mini water slide perfect for toddlers or younger children.  They also have a full service child drop off  center at Kidtopia,  so parents can be pampered at the incredible spa, get out on the golf course or grab a nice dinner.  In the summer time they also have show movies poolside.  The entre property is great for long walks and all the rooms have just been recently renovated.  It is a gorgeous property and one of my favorite places to stay because they cater to adults and kids equally.  Read the full review of Resort Las Costa.

5.  Smuggler’s Notch, Vermont – Posh Brood pick

Smuggler’s Notch is called “America’s Family Resort” and it’s well deserved. Visitors to Smuggs (as it’s affectionately called) will enjoy mountainside living, award-winning children’s programs (ages 6 weeks to 17 years), three big mountains of skiing and riding, indoor heated pools, The FunZone Family Entertainment Center, shopping, dining, year-round Zip Line Canopy Tours, dogsledding, snowshoeing and more. There is something for everyone here.

Smuggler’s Notch offers condominium accommodations to suit any budget and visitors can choose a quiet location in the woods or in the heart of Smuggler’s Village. We love the space of the condos and the convenience of kitchens, washer and dryers for vacationing families. Rates are packaged for three, five, and seven nights and includes use of all resort amenities including pools and entertainment center, snow tubing and lift tickets. Guests can also opt to include ski lessons to packages. Condo rates from $350 a night depending on location, number of bedrooms and class of condominiums.

6.  Nickelodeon Suites Resort in Orlando, Florida Travel Mamas Pick

I am a big fan of suites hotels for better sleep, more space, and maybe even a little romance after the kids go to bed. This is especially true when the hotel is affordable and jam-packed with family-friendly entertainment like miniature golf and live audience participation shows. Kids’ rooms at the Nick Hotel in Orlando, Florida come equipped with bunk beds and colorful Nick-inspired murals featuring favorite characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, and Jimmy Neutron. On-site character breakfasts and free shuttles to Disney and Universal Studios parks add to the resort’s value. You may have a hard time convincing the kiddos to leave, however, after they get a chance to swim in the hotel’s giant water park with slides for splashers of all sizes. Ask a kid and they’ll tell you the best part is getting a chance to be “slimed” by 400 gallons of green goo at the pool each day.

7.  Grand Wailea in Maui, Hawaii – Child Mode Pick

Heading to Maui? Located on Wailea Beach (the nicest beach in Maui), the Grand Wailea a Waldorf Astoria Resort is officially on the top of our list as one of the most outstanding properties we have ever had the pleasure of staying at. Luxury at it’s finest, this resort caters to families like it is nobodys business. With exquisite views of the Haleakala mountain and Pacific ocean, a swimming area offering 9 different pools including the world’s first water elevator and countless highlights including Spa Grande (officially the most incredible spa I’ve ever been to), this hotel is a MUST when visiting Maui!  Read the entire review for Grand Wailea over on ChildMode.

9.  Red Rock Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada – SavvySassyMoms Pick

If you think you can’t go to Las Vegas with kids, then you haven’t stayed at the Red Rock Hotel and Casino.  This hotel is situated off the strip but still offers everything you need for a Vegas getaway (with kids).  This is probably one of my favorite pools for kids, because of the gradual entry for little swimmers, the chairs that sit right in the water and the center island is perfect for older kids to jump from.  They also have a bowling alley, movie theatre, food court and a drop off Kids Club.  The hotel rooms are modern and TV’s right next to the tub, your kids will love.  Don’t worry, just beacuse it’s kid friendly does not mean it lost it’s Las Vegas glamour.  I have even declared this the Best Hotel in Las Vegas for Kids.

10.  Rancho Las Palmas, Palm Springs – MomAbroad pick

The Rancho Las Palmas, a resort known for its golf, spa and family-friendliness. The resort’s biggest attraction is Splashtopia, Rancho’s very own mini water park, with two 100-ft slides, a lazy river, water fountains and a mini beach area for the little ones. Definitely a highlight with the kids. Free kids buffets at several restaurants around the resort mean that you don’t have to worry about choice or price. Finally, the entire family can enjoy activities hosted by the hotel on weekends.
