You may already know and love OXO Tot brand products from their sippy cups to the Sprout highchair, but they’ve recently entered the stroller game, and let me tell you, they’re coming in hot!

OXO Cubby+ Stroller Review (+ Giveaway!)

My 18-month-old and I recently had the pleasure of cruising in the OXO Tot Cubby+ Stroller and I don’t know who was more excited – her, for the novel pleasure of stuffing Cheddar Bunnies into a fresh, clean canvas, or me, for the absolute delight in finding a dreamy hybrid of my current two-stroller fleet.

At present, I own both a hefty luxury stroller for every day and a super lightweight umbrella stroller for day trips and travel. Straight out of the gate, I find the OXO Tot Cubby+ to provide the best of both rides. It’s solid on its wheels without feeling bulky, it has a simple, streamlined profile with tons of tucked-away little features and it looks like a million bucks with only a $399 price tag. I’m smitten.

The easiest open/close function in the game

Let’s be real, every stroller claims to have the easiest open-and-close feature: “In just seven easy steps, using both arms and both legs and making sure you have a spotter for your toddler so you can give it all the focus you can muster on four hours’ sleep, this stroller closes in a SNAP!” Ha! Yeah right!

I am here to tell you that the OXO Tot Cubby+ has no doubt the simplest, smoothest, sweat-free open/close I have ever seen in the wild. It is an honest to goodness one-handed maneuver. To open, you push a release lock with your thumb and pull up the handle (bonus points for the fact that you can’t possibly do it backwards so you don’t need to worry about opening the stroller into yourself and sporting shin bruises for the rest of your life). To close, pull the small (but totally visible and accessible) release tab and handle in the base of the stroller seat and the whole thing just collapses in a graceful, non-finger-amputating way. So simple!

OXO Tot Cubby+ Stroller Review

The cherry on top? Once it’s folded, it stands up straight. On. Its. Own. No need to lean it up against a wall or worry it’s going to roll into traffic while you wrestle anyone into her car seat. Even if you forget to push the brake (guilty!), it will still stay put. OXO, you have answered my prayers.

OXO Tot Cubby+ Stroller

Hallelujah for extra pockets

And speaking of prayers, next up on my dream stroller wish list would absolutely be some extra pockets to stash keys, phone, wipes, and a snack – the small items you want to take along on a trip to the park without lugging the whole darn Mary Poppins diaper bag.

The OXO Tot Cubby+ is for sure the first stroller I’ve seen that has not one, not two, but three (!) additional built-in pockets located in the canopy and seat back. I like to keep short outings as minimal as possible so this is perhaps my favorite feature of them all. They even went the extra mile of lining the canopy pocket in a bright color so you don’t have to fumble blindly for your black phone in a black pocket. Now that’s attention to detail, people!

Let’s talk about storage

Storage is super important for me too. Even if I’ve managed to ditch the diaper bag, a girl’s gotta have her sand toys for the park and some space to peel off those outer layers when the sandbox action heats up! And then there’s the “let’s stop for milk” plan when you inevitably remember five or six other items you need and there’s a box of cookies you totally don’t need but your toddler already ripped the box top off so now you have to buy it anyway and hide it from her and then end up eating them yourself instead of dinner after she goes to bed.

But I digress. The OXO Tot Cubby+ storage basket situation is pretty perfect. It’s not incredibly deep, so those with diaper bags resembling a small duffel might have trouble stuffing everything under there, but there is ample room for the aforementioned sand toys and grocery pit stop. An additional cool function, which I’ve never actually seen before, is a fold-out component to the basket, which adds a little extra room and easier access under the seat. When folded in, it provides extra security for loose items in the basket when walking over bumpy terrain.

OXO Tot Cubby+ Stroller Basket

Seat recline

In terms of the seat function, the recline mechanism in the OXO Tot Cubby+ is a strap as opposed to the common click-lock position, which I see as both a positive and a negative – the positive being that you can recline to any position (you aren’t limited to a few standard positions), but I did find it a bit tricky to slide the strap while my toddler was seated in the stroller.

Reclining back fully wasn’t such an issue, but tightening it back up to a seated position was not easy without cooperation from her, and we all know the (very true) stereotype about toddlers and cooperation! This was the only function where the hefty luxury brand has this stroller beat, as I did have to crouch down and put a little effort in. Not a deal-breaker whatsoever, but worth a mention as I found this to be a function more similar to a travel/umbrella-stroller design.

Other notable details

Didn’t I mention that this stroller was packed with delightful little features? The foot brake definitely gets honorable mention for being both easily-accessible and sandal-friendly. The open/close functions click audibly so you know if it’s open or locked properly (love that!).

The chest straps and buckles are super simple and straightforward to adjust, as is the cinch harness feature – one strap between the legs that you can pull to tighten the chest harness evenly. It’s a common feature for car seats, but I’ve never actually seen it done on a stroller. So smart and simple!

The stroller’s canopy comes with both an extension for really sunny days and a peek-a-boo window to check on your kiddo. The chest straps and buckles are super simple and straightforward to adjust, as is the single-pull tightening feature – no need for an engineering degree here!

New Strollers for 2017

Overall, I would absolutely recommend the OXO Tot Cubby+ Stroller for anyone searching for either the luxury look at an affordable price (yes!) or a size/function hybrid between a hefty everyday stroller and lightweight travel stroller (yes!). This beauty pulls double duty at an incredible price and the good people at OXO have obviously thought through and delivered on numerous details any parent would appreciate.

The car seat industry constantly expands and improves, which is fantastic for parents but makes car seat shopping feel a bit daunting. Over five years ago, when we were getting ready to buy our first convertible car seat, I did a ton of research and asked my mom friends a lot of questions. We ultimately went with the Diono Radian RXT, and I’m glad we did. We continue to choose this seat for our little ones for five main reasons.

Best convertible car seats for three across
1. Smart and sleek design

Diono designed the Radian RXT well from the inside out. It’s an attractive seat made with premium plush interlock knit fabric and comes in great color options. One of my favorite features of this seat is its low-sitting profile, which makes it super easy to load kiddos in and out. It offers expandable sides and a long seat bottom to allow proper leg support. Installation is a breeze because of the unique SuperLATCH system.

Which car seat is best for having three kids across?
2. Allows three seats in a row

The narrow profile of this seat allows you to sit three seats across in the back seat of most vehicles. Many people will appreciate that they don’t need to upgrade their vehicle to fit a third seat, which is huge, or it gives you a lot more storage space. I currently have two Diono Radian RXT seats and one Diono Cambria High Back Booster in my van’s second row. My three boys prefer this set up, and it gives me lots of room for the dog, stroller and hockey bags in the trunk, which is priceless.

How to fit three car seats across the back seat

3. Longevity

The RXT has one of the longest lifespans I’ve seen in a car seat. As long as you are accident free, the seat is good for 10 years. It can accommodate kiddos from 5 pounds up to 80 pounds with the harness, and up to 120 pounds as a booster. We’ve had Radian RXT seats for years with our older boys, and they are still going strong. At ages 4 and 6, they both fit comfortably in the seat.

Three kids, three car seats: How to make it work in your car
4. Extended rear facing

Rear facing is recommended for children at least through age two, but the longer the better in my opinion. This seat comfortably accommodates little ones rear facing from 5 pounds to 45 pounds for maximum safety. Diono Radian RXT seats comes with premium plush head and body support cushions for newborns and infants. How long can your child stay rear facing?

5. Top notch safety features

The Radian RXT and other seats from Diono receive top-notch safety ratings and rave reviews. With a full steel frame and aluminum-reinforced sides, energy-absorbing EPS foam and side impact protection and a Safe Stop® energy-absorbing harness, this seat is hard to beat.

Certainly every seat has its pros and cons, but this seat gets high marks in my book. However, steel isn’t light. I take comfort in the sturdy design, but please note this is a heavy seat. When rear facing in the second row, the Radian generally works best in the middle because of the tall design. With my van’s current configuration, my youngest sits rear facing behind the driver’s seat and my tall husband has a hard time driving comfortably. We will likely be moving his seat to the middle.

I highly recommend bringing every car seat to a local CPS Tech to check the installation and fit.  Diono also offers some great installation videos to get you started, and you can check them out here. The Diono Radian RXT retails for $360, which is on par with top convertible car seats, but the lifespan of this seat — from birth to booster — really sets it apart.

Have you tried the Diono Radian RXT?  What are your favorite features?

Diono kindly provided me with a car seat for the purposes of review, but all as always all opinions are my own.

Getting out and about to explore the outdoors is a must for our family. Our little ones thrive on outdoor play. Even at a young age, their curious little minds love being exposed to all the sunshine and new surroundings. Baby wearing with the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier One Outdoors has become my favorite tool to help introduce my young children to the adventures the outdoors can provide them — not to mention it’s a huge lifesaver when Mommy might need her hands free to help hold little hands when climbing over a rock, investigate a new leaf, or to dish out to endless amounts of snacks.

Meet the BABYBJORN Baby Carrier One Outdoors
Get outdoors with BABYBJÖRN

The BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier One Outdoors is unlike any baby carrier I’ve worn before (and with three children, I’ve tested a lot!). While it took a second to get adjusted to the various straps and alternative ways to set up the carrier, but it only took a quick look at the conveniently attached directions and we were off and running. Even after my first wear it was clear BABYBJÖRN has taken great thought into making the Carrier One Outdoors the best possibly outdoor carrier for parents to wear.

The carriers straps are wide and heavily-padded so that they provide for ease of wear all day long. Having an extra 8 to 33 pounds on your frame can be taxing, so comfort is key. While the carrier is very sturdy, the fabrics used are actually very light and conducive to outdoor activity — lightweight, resistant to rain, and my personal favorite, breathable! Those tiny little humans provide a lot of heat — Mommy needs her airflow, especially in hot and humid climates.

The Best Toddler Carriers to Wear on Hikes

It’s all in the details

Sometimes its the little things that make you happy. For this mommy, some of my favorite features were the details that BABYBJÖRN took to heart when thinking of making a carrier the easiest for parents to use.

5 Features You Want on a Baby Carrier

The BABYBJÖRN Carrier One Outdoors comes with a convenient little attached pocket. This pocket is the perfect size to hold your keys, cell phone, snack, or money — anything you might need on whatever adventure you will be taking that day.

5 Features Moms Want on a Baby Carrier

The carrier also has a ton of easy to clip straps all over it. You can easily hook anything you need for the day to keep your hands free for both you and your little one.

Pack up and go

With most carriers, all those straps and buckles can make for a hot tangled mess when not in use. The BABYBJÖRN Carrier One Outdoors eliminates that factor and comes with its own bag. Easy to neatly store when you aren’t using it, and makes for a quick grab when you are!

With summer right around the corner, many of us are thinking about family vacations. Traveling with young kiddos — especially active toddlers — can be daunting, to say the least, but the time together and the memories made on the other end usually make it all worth it. When traveling with toddlers, you have to go into it with a good attitude, lots of snacks, and fully equipped with the right gear. Here are some of our favorites to travel with:

1. Trunki

I think I’m late to the party, but we just discovered Trunki and my boys love them. They have lots of fun packing them for a trip, they feel independent pulling them through the airport, and have a blast going for a ride during a layover.  (Trunki, $50)

2. Ju-Ju-Be B.F.F. Bag

When traveling with young kiddos, a versatile bag that can be worn as a backpack is a necessity. While this is technically a diaper bag, I consider it an everything bag, with a perfect design and easy to wipe fabric for traveling. (Ju-Ju-Be B.F.F., $180)

3. Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller and Glider Board

There are a number of great travel strollers out there, but my go-to still remains the Baby Jogger City Mini. With a truly simple one-hand fold, a lightweight design, and its ability to accommodate any of my kiddos, it has been on many trips with our family. With multiple kiddos in town, especially non-stroller riders, attaching the Baby Jogger Glider Board is a lifesaver. (Baby Jogger City Mini Stroller, $250 & Glider Board, $85)

4. Beco Baby Toddler Carrier

I never leave home without a carrier — I find babywearing both convenient and calming for my little ones, especially when we’re traveling. For toddlers, Beco makes a great carrier that’s comfortable, well designed, supportive, easy to adjust between parents, and available in some great patterns. (Beco Baby Toddler Carrier, $180)

5.  lil gadgets Connect+ Kid’s Headphones

I’m not going to lie, technology can be a lifesaver during traveling situations with my little guys. I’ve learned the hard way that headphones are a must for plugging into our own devices or to TVs on the plane. These headphones from lil gadgets are great — they’re sized for little ears, volume limiting, come in cute colors, and use Shareport, which allows you to connect multiple pairs to one device without a splitter. (lil gadgets Connect+, $20)

6. Shrunks Tuckaire Toddler Travel Bed

I love this bed and it has been on countless trips with our family. It’s perfect for kiddos who are out of a crib, but do too much rolling or wiggling for a hotel bed. It’s surprisingly lightweight and easy to tuck in a suitcase. (Shrunks Tuckaire Toddler Travel Bed, $79)

7. Melissa and Doug Water Wow

I always stock up on fun new activities for our trips, hiding them until the day we leave to keep their novelty alive! I love Water Wow pads because they allow the kids to color and feel creative without the mess of markers or the hassle of loose crayons.  (Melissa and Doug Water Wow, $5)

8. The Honest Company Hand Sanitizer Spray

Germs are pretty much unavoidable when traveling. I try not to stress out about it, but I do keep hand sanitizer handy and distribute it liberally. The Honest Company spray is my go-to for keeping germ-free when we travel. It isn’t filled with harsh chemicals and I love the scents.  (The Honest Co. Hand Sanitizer Spray 2-pack, $6)

9. Go-Go Babyz Travelmate

With a young toddler, I find bringing a car seat onto the plane the easiest and safest way to ride out the flight, and a travel cart is definitely the easiest way to get schlep the seat around airport.  (Go-Go Babyz Travelmate, $90)

10. Neat Cheeks

Messy faces are inevitable when you’re eating out and in the car during your trip! These wipes are beyond handy, as well as being a natural and easy was to keep your favorite little faces and fingers clean.  (Neat Cheeks Peach Wipes, $5)

What are your must haves when traveling with your little ones?

Car seat shopping can send your head spinning these days. There are so many great options out there and the innovation and technology is constantly improving. There is no one perfect seat, as every family’s needs are different, but here are some things to keep in mind when looking for a new seat: age of kids, number of kids, vehicles you own, travel plans, how many seats you have (i.e. are you transferring between cars often), and, of course, your budget.

We welcomed our third son 3-months ago and with the almost six year age gap between our oldest and youngest, we needed to update our car seats. We recently had the opportunity to try the new Grow and Go Air 3-in-1 Car Seat from Safety 1st and have had a great experience with it.  Each of my boys have had turns riding in it — they range in age from 3-months-old to 6-years-old — and each of them has been quite comfortable in the seat. Here’s some of the reasons we’re loving it and will be holding on to it for a while:

Meet the New Safety 1st Grow and Go Air 3-in-1 Car Seat
Versatility and longevity

We are a family of five with three different vehicles, so a seat that can accommodate each of our kiddos and that can be easily moved back-and-forth between vehicles is a big win in my book. The Grow and Go Air 3-in-1 is designed to grow with your child from 5-100 pounds to 100 lbs — 5-40 pounds for rear-facing and 22-65 pounds for forward-facing,  with use as a belt-positioning booster for kids 40-100 pounds.

Car seats that will fit your kids from birth through kindergarten
Safety

As parents, we all want to feel confident in the safety features of our car seats. The Grow and Go Air exceeds federal safety standards, offering superior safety with Air Protect®, an advanced cushion system that provides extra protection, a QuickFit™ harness that allows you to easily get a good fit for your kiddo, and a three-position recline makes it easy to get a fit in your car. Always remember that proper installation is a key factor in the safety of any seat.  I strongly recommend having a certified CPST check your installation.

Rear-facing capability

I’m a big stickler when it comes to car seat safety and keeping my little ones rear-facing until at least 2-years-old is important to me. The Grow and Go Air makes that easy. The seat can be used in the rear-facing position from 5-40 pounds, with three recline positions, and three comfortable grow-with-Baby pillows to keep the kids comfortable as they grow.

Rear Facing in the New Safety 1st Grow and Go Air
Ease of use

We’ve really been putting this seat to the test over the past few weeks. I’ve been moving it frequently between vehicles and adjusting it for each of my boys, so when I say this seat is a breeze to install and adjust, I mean it. Some features that make it especially user-friendly include the QuickFit™ Harness, which makes it super easy to adjust both the harness and headrest in one simple step (love that), the seat is lightweight and easy to maneuver (even for me), and cleaning this seat is so simple (not matter how many times I say my kids will never eat in the car, that rule is quickly thrown out the window), so having machine washable seat pads is key. The pillows for Baby are also reversible, which is genius and and so helpful to keep going when dealing with messes and blowouts on the road.

Comfort

Honestly, this seat looks so comfortable — it’s nicely padded and the fabric is extremely soft. My older boys have actually been arguing over who gets to ride in it… their favorite features are the texture of the fabric and the two cup-holders. It’s amazing to me that each of my boys are happy riding in this seat. My 3-month-old was nice and cozy, and supported by the Grow-with-Baby pillows.

Car Seats to Fit Older Kids
Aesthetics

While the look of a seat isn’t critical, a nice looking seat is definitely a plus considering it will be in your car day in and day out. The Grow and Go Air 3=in-1 has a sleek appearance and comes in a number of different attractive color combos. Our seat is the Evening Tide design, and the aqua and gray is really sharp.

The Safety 1st Grow and Go Air 3-in-1 Car Seat retails for $199 and can be found online and at many major retailers.

It’s really amazing to see how far the world of baby gear has come in the last 5 years since we welcomed our first son. With the arrival of our third son, just a couple of weeks ago, I’m excited to be exploring all the innovative options in gear.  A new nursing pillow has been on the top of my list and was one of my must-haves for bringing to the hospital when he was born.

Regardless of how you choose to feed your baby, chances are you’ll use a nursing/feeding pillow to help get Baby in that perfect eating position. If you’re expecting for the first time, you’ve probably included one in your registry… and for good reason.  These pillows can be a lifesaver for moms — and dads, too! — providing helpful support and position for feeding (and even just holding Baby in the early days), and there are some new options out there that look better than ever.

6 New nursing pillows to try

6 New Baby Nursing Pillows to Try

4. Premium Cotton Nursing Pillow from Bébé au Lait

Prefer for Baby to sit up a bit higher when she’s feeding? The nursing pillows from Bébé au Lait are a good choice. The reversible, dual-sided design gives Moms two options — choose from the flat, firmer surface or flip it over for a plush, softer surface. The pillow has an open-shaped design and also offers a two-sided pocket to keep burp cloths, breast pads and other essentials within reach. 5. Gia Angled Breastfeeding Pillow from Dr. Browns

The angled design of this pillow positions Baby at an incline as she eats, which may help with digestion and reduce reflux. The wider, flatter pillow surface helps prevent Baby from rolling down (No. 1 nursing pet peeve!), and the thick-to-thin design is intended to grow with Baby and offer limitless nursing positions. This entire pillow can be machine washed and dried. Read more about it on drbrownsbaby.com. (Available on target.com, $27)

The Next Generation of Nursing Pillows

6. Best Latch Nursing Pillow from Boppy

This new pillow from Boppy offers a two-sided design, each with different feeding surfaces. The firm surface features a soft minky fabric and features a contoured foam edge design that helps Baby turn towards Mom. The softer, fiberfill side offers a more snuggly surface as Baby grows. The wide arm design fits most moms and the removable belt keeps Baby snug against your body. With the foam insert and belt removed, the pillow is machine washable. (Available on boppy.com, $45)

How do I pick the right nursing pillow for me?

With so many great options out there, it can be hard to navigate deciding which pillow is right for you. Asking other moms and your local lactation consultant is always a good idea, but here are some things to keep in mind when shopping:

The right fit

With different body types and personal preferences, there is no one perfect pillow for everyone. If possible, explore the options in person — you can check your local baby gear store, meet with a local lactation consultant, doula, or try out friends’ pillows before your baby arrives. Specifically look at how the opening and height of the pillow fits your body.

Shape and firmness

This again will come down to personal preference, body type, and favorite feeding position. There unfortunately is no one-size-fits-all option. The “C-shape” is the most popular, but it’s all about what feels comfortable and natural to you. The pillow should put Baby at a height that doesn’t have you hunching down, and the firmness should be comfortable for Baby, but firm enough that she isn’t sinking down. If you’re nursing, Baby’s neck should be held straight at breast level when feeding.

Easy to clean

Between reflux, leaky boobs or bottles, and general everyday use, being able to machine wash your pillow, or at least its removable cover, is essential.

Features

If you’re expecting your first baby, you may not know what features you’re looking for until after she arrives, but do your best to test pillows out and ask around. Deciding what features are important to you will help narrow down your search. Think about if you want a waist strap, if you want a two-sided option, if you want something that can also be a support pillow for Baby, if you need a pocket and if organic fabrics are a must.

Price

As you can see, price points on these pillows can vary greatly. While many people find them to be essential, there’s no way of knowing how long you’re going to need or want the pillow, so only spend what your are comfortable with. As with all of your new baby gear, it’s often a good idea to set a budget before making a purchase.

Aesthetics

This might sound silly, but you’ve spent time designing your nursery and picking out colors, and if you’re going to spend the money on one of these pillows, you might as well like the looks of it and like the way it flows with your nursery. Most pillows offer a variety of fabric choices, so take your time and pick one you’ll love.

Will you be adding any of these pillows to your registry or wish list?

The Farmer’s Almanac is predicting another cold and snowy winter here in Maine. For us, that means bundling up and making the most of the season. But this year, we are also gearing up for the arrival of our third son (our first winter baby!) and I’m realizing there is so much more to think about.  While our days may look a little different, bundling up baby to chase after his big brothers is going be essential. He are some of our favorites for keeping babies warm and toasty during his first winter.

Bundle UP Baby Keeping Babies Warm this Winter Savvy Sassy Moms

1. Babywearing coat

I’m a huge babywearing fan — it’s such a lifesaver when you have more than one kiddo to chase after! Babywearing coats are genius for these cold months. I’m loving the look of the M Coat and this Down Jacket from Mamaway.

2. A cozy and versatile blanket

With a winter baby, I imagine having a soft and warm blanket on hand is key. I’m loving the On the Go Blanket from Bella Bundles, because it is functional and adorable.

3. Soft, warm, practical accessories

Zunato’s Cozie Collection has always been my go-to for their colors and practicality in winter. Their booties are simply the best — they are truly so soft and they actually stay on those little tootsies. Or try these super cute and furry The North Face Booties!

4. Lightweight, warm baby bunting

We are big Patagonia fans and their Down Sweater Bunting is fantastic. This should not be worn in a car seat, for safety reasons, but it is perfect for time outdoors.

5. Socks that actually stay on

Smartwool is our sock of choice for everyone in our house, and baby is no different. For days when baby is out of his footies, we love the Baby Booty Batch from Smartwool. They are soft, warm, breathable, and yes, they stay on.

6. Weather repellent car seat cover

This is going to be a necessity with a busy family of five! We’ll be using the 7 A.M. Enfant Cocooon all winter long. It’s safe for Baby (goes on the outside of the infant car seat), warm, and both wind and water repellent.

7. Warm, yet breathable sleep sack

Sleep sacks are a great way to keep Baby warm and safe as they eliminate the need for a blanket in their crib. The Gunapod from Gunamuna is one of our favorites. It’s innovative WONDERZiP system allows you to control temperature and also allows for easy access for diaper changes.

8. Stroller bunting

Fresh air is key to winter survival and sanity, so in cold climates like Maine, keeping your stroller “weather ready” is important. There are lots of great options out there, but we love the 7 A.M Enfant 212 Blanket Evolution.

What are you favorite products to help keep your baby warm & cozy in the winter?

Let me first say I’m not a “techie” and the idea of a wireless baby monitor really had me baffled. But as we’re getting ready to welcome our third son, a new baby monitor has been at the top of my list, and I’m realizing just how far the options have come over the years.

I recently had the opportunity to try the WiFi Baby and, I must say, I am surprised by how much I love it. I’ve been testing it out with my big boys (in their new bunk beds!) and just recently put a camera in baby’s room (which feels exciting). After over five years of parenting and several video monitors, here are seven of the many reasons I’m a WiFi Baby convert and you may want to consider it too:

Why We Are Using a WiFi Baby Monitor

Why we’re using a wifi baby monitor

1. No range limits

One of the challenges we’ve had with our previous monitors is that they’ve had very little range; it was challenging to even get reception in our front yard. With two older kids now, our new capabilities are going to be a lifesaver.

2. Amazingly clear picture and sound

I’ve truly never had a monitor that offers such clear picture and audio! Over the years, I’ve become accustomed to the constant static coming from my bedside, but the WiFi Baby system is such a welcomed improvement. It sends both HD video and audio through the wireless network, not analog signals like traditional monitors, which receive constant interference. WiFi Baby 4 offers 8x zoom and also has a range of up to 30 feet in complete darkness.

3. Security

This is a big one, as security questions were a part of my initial concern with using a wifi baby monitor. WiFi Baby is a non-cloud-based monitor that connects via your local WiFi network (LAN) and sends password protected video and audio to your device anywhere — you don’t have to have a computer on to for it to be operating. Traditional monitors use analog signals with several open and unprotected frequencies. You can read more on the security and privacy of the WiFi Baby system here.

What You Need to Know About WiFi Baby Monitors
4. Viewing options

No more missing monitor! (This happened all the time to us in the past…) We can now check-in on our kiddos with each of our phones, our iPad, and even securely on our computers, which will be huge for our busy family five. I can’t even tell you how much time we’ll save not having to hunt for the monitor screen!

5. Multiple camera viewing

With (soon-to-be!) three kiddos and a busy house with multiple floors, clear viewing of multiple cameras is an important feature. The WiFi Baby App that comes with the monitor supports monitoring up to four cameras at once with simultaneous video and audio. You can also view these cameras from as many as six accounts for easy viewing at home or remotely. (Grandparents love this feature!)

6. Slim and sleek design

The WiFi Baby Camera is just 3-inches square and 1-inch deep, which is quite compact considering all its capabilities! The system comes with mounting brackets, if you chose to attach it to the wall like we did, and it also comes with feet should you want to have it free standing. The WiFi Baby 4 is available in your choice of white, slate gray, or sand dune, depending on your nursery style.

7. Friendly and truly knowledgeable customer support

WiFi Baby is a family business, started by parents who wanted a more reliable and innovative system to watch over their own little ones. The quality and care is evident in all aspects of their business including their top notch customer service. If you have a customer support request, you’ll receive a quick response from a knowledgeable and product savvy rep, all US based, that provide you with an email and phone number for easy communication. During the initial set-up, I admit I was a bit confused, but I had an appointment with a rep who walked me through the process step by step.

The options for baby gear these days are plentiful and overwhelming, to say the least, and baby monitors are no different. Taking the plunge to go WiFi is not cheap, but you get what you pay for with the quality and capabilities of the WIFi Baby system and the immense benefits it offers. The WiFi Baby 4 system can be purchased directly on their website; retail cost is $249, or $449 for twin cameras.

What do you think about taking the plunge to WiFi?

The Brooklyn (1)
The hippest baby registry

My best friend and college roommate is FINALLY pregnant!! I cannot believe I actually get to scream this from the rooftop — or at least this blog! I have been patiently waiting for this day, but was also well-aware that it might not happen.

My best friend, Christine Bean, just so happens to be the costume designer for NBC’s, The Blacklist. (Totally name dropping.) While I was off having babies and shopping at Baby GAP, my friend was working her way up in the costume departments of a variety of shows and shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue. A few years ago, she made the move to New York and bought a place in Brooklyn… with a spare room.

Christine Bean The BlackList

What did I do when she told me that she was pregnant? I immediately told her, “Okay… look around online and tell me what baby gear you want!”

Of course, I could have told her what she MUST HAVE, but I didn’t. Why not? Well, this was a little bit of research on my part.

A) I wanted to see what a stylish, hip mom in Brooklyn would want and register for — maybe she would find something I had missed or was not aware of!

And B) I wanted to see if our tastes, even in baby stuff, matched a bit.

When she sent me over her list, I literally laughed out loud. I knew it! She wants all things Stokke. Of course she does. She also has some other amazing things from The Honest Company, Aden + Anais, Boon, Life Factory and Nuna on her wishlist — and I had to add in a bit of StorkSak and Little Giraffe, too!

Babies require a surprising amount of gear, but if you choose wisely, one thoughtful product can make life much simpler and more convenient! That’s how we feel about our BABYBJÖRN Balance Soft Baby Bouncer. It’s a family favorite that gets toted all around the house through the course of the day.

Must-Have: BABYBJÖRN Balance Soft Bouncer

6 Reasons we love our BABYBJÖRN bouncer
1. The way it soothes

The gentle bounce is just what my 3-month-old Everly needs to calm down. She’s entered a period of separation anxiety, so I use the bouncer to keep her happy while I take a shower or prep dinner.

2. Baby stays engaged

Everly loves to be able to see everything that’s going on around her. The BABYBJÖRN Bouncer sits her upright in a comfortable position to watch and interact with her big sister, which she loves. Nothing brings a smile to her face like being included in story time!

3. Fold it flat

When it’s time to declutter our house for the night, I fold the bouncer in half and slide it behind the couch. I seriously love how easy it is to stash it away when we’re not using it.

4. Have bouncer, will travel

The lightweight bouncer travels all over the house throughout the day, but we also bring it on trips to the grandparents’ house. We know Everly is happiest using her own gear, so it’s nice to be able to bring the comforts of home with us.

5. Fuss-free design

No batteries, no cords, no fuss! Everly’s own weight sustains the gentle bounce she loves. It’s the definition of simple perfection, just like all of BABYBJÖRN’s thoughtful products for babies.

6. Grow, Baby, grow

The bouncer seat has several different settings based on how upright your baby likes to sit. Everly likes the second stage the best right now and someday we’ll be able to convert it into a toddler seat for her!
