Let’s face it… moms are busy.

Crazy busy.

I would love to wear heels and stilettos every day, but come on, they just aren’t practical for a busy mom who is on the go 24/7. I have to have a shoe that I can walk in from the time I leave for work in the morning until the time I finally let my head hit the pillow at night, which is why I’m such a fan of Tieks.

How to Wear Mustard Yellow Tieks

Are Tieks worth the price?

I’ve done many posts about Tieks on my blog, Shaw Avenue, but y’all, I’m here to tell you in person… they’re amazing!

I really never thought my foot was wide until ballet flats came into style. I would try pair after pair, but they always rub the bone below my pinky toe and I would be miserable all day. I had read review after review on how amazing Tieks were (just like this one!) and once I tried them on, I realized they were different.

Do I love them? Yes.
Are they worth the price? Yes. (Especially if other ballet flats don’t fit your feet well!)
I wouldn’t have 5 pair if I didn’t think so!

How to Wear Yellow Tieks in Fall

How to wear yellow Tieks in fall

When I was deciding on a new color to buy, it took me a while to narrow it down to the Mustard Yellow Tieks. It came down to those and the fuchsia pink, but there was just something about that yellow and blue together that I couldn’t pass up for fall! Did I have a lot of things in my closet to match these? No, not really. But, I knew I’d figure it out. I’m always up for a good styling challenge and I love coming up with new outfits to pair with them! Don’t be afraid to put a little pop of color on your feet, even in a color that seems to be out of the normal for the season!

Whether it’s apparel or accessories, Buffalo plaid is a classically fun print to incorporate in outfits for both mama and Baby all throughout fall and into the holidays.

In hopes of getting you inspired to pull together a few trendy looks of your own, I’ve rounded up some of my fave, most stylish finds on Instagram and from around the web for you to add to your closets. These are taking the lumberjack look up to a way cuter and chic’er level!

Best of Buffalo Plaid on Instagram

Mama’s and babies are falling for #buffaloplaid

I take a lot of style cues from what I spot following hashtags like #buffaloplaid and #fallfashion on Instagram. Buffalo plaid is so versatile and receiving lots of love on Instagram right now! This fun fall pattern can be dressed up with a tulle skirt (@savvy_skirt_girl) or faux leather leggings, or can be layered under sweaters and brightly colored vests (@a_southerndrawl), or even mix it up by pairing with other prints (@thecatecrusader).

And don’t get me started on all the adorable kiddos of instagram who are just showing off how fun this trend is from head-to-toe in everything from headbands and baseball caps to booties and backpacks. Whether the red print or the white print is your favorite, the ways you can wear this plaid are seriously endless!

Heels (1)
Fringe Boots for Fall

Fringe boots are hot, hot, hot! You know you need a pair, but let me warn you — the choice will not be easy! Fringe boots are available in so many varieties — everything from fringe ankle boots to high heel stilettos with fringe, which are pretty sassy!

How your day-to-day life looks will determine which fringe boot is right for you. Since most of us are moms on the move, I featured several you can wear whether you’re in the office or at the playground.

Fringe ankle boots look great with skinny jeans and a rolled cuff boyfriend jean. Fringe knee boots work well with leggings or skinny jeans, so if you just bought yourself a brand new pair of trendy flare jeans for fall, go with a higher heel or wedge fringe boot.

Fringe Boot Wearing Tip:  Fringe makes a statement. Statement pieces will compete with the boots, so keep the rest of your outfit simple and let the fringe do the talking!

1. Rock-n-roll: Steve Madden $99
2. Peep-toe: Dolce Vita Peep Toe Fringe Boot $179
3. Leather: Matisse Leather $193
4. Casual: Sam Edelman Louie $140
5. Low Heel: Paige Ankle Bootie $109
6. Tassels: Sole Society Talisha Tassel $99
7. Color: Not Rated Flippin Fringe $65
8. Heels: Chinese Laundry Kristin Cavallari $169
9. Tall Boots: Steve Madden Tall Fringe Boot $178
10. Wedge: Very Volatile Khloe Wedge Fringe $75

Which fringe boots would you choose?

Flare Jeans for Fall
Flare jeans for fall

We are loving all the fall fashion trends that are popping up in stores and one of our favorites is the return of flare jeans! We can literally hear all the curvy girls and short girls rejoicing from around the country. Why? Because flare jeans make you look taller and they are much more slimming than skinny jeans. For many short girls that have curves — like myself — skinny jeans make us look short and even curvier, which I, for one, am not a big fan of, so I am very excited to see flare jeans back on-trend!

Top: Destructed Black Skinny Flare, $79 / Paige Denim Hidden Hills Stretch, $189 /  Joe’s Jeans Mustang Flare, $198

Bottom: Citizen’s of Humanity, $174  /  KUT from Cloth, $89  /   NYDJ Farahh Stretch Denim, $110

Four reasons we LOVE flare jeans

When wearing flare jeans, you should wear a heel, wedge or boot that gives you a lift and allows for the flare to hang nicely without bunching up at the bottom.

If you are short and need to hem your jeans from time-to-time, you may be able to skip this since you will be wearing heels your flare jeans! Many brands also make short, regular and tall flare jeans, so if regular is still too long, then the short might be perfect.

Flare jeans also help balance out a woman’s hips and butt, making the legs look longer. Flare jeans really accentuate a pear or hourglass shape.

Most jeans have some stretch in them and you’ll want your flare jeans to hug your hips and thighs. Be careful when buying… you don’t want them to stretch out too much! If they start out a little tight, that is okay! With wear they will conform to your body and end up being the perfect fit.

Flare Jeans for Fall 2015
Flare jeans can be pretty spendy, but we were happy to find a few pairs that were also under $100. However, if you wear jeans daily, buying a quality pair that costs a little more is worth it. It’s better to buy one amazing pair that you love and that will last longer than one season than to buy three pairs that you’re not that comfortable in or happy with.

Free People Gummy Mid Rise Flare, $78 / GAP Destructed Flare, $79 /  7 for All Mankind DoJo, $169

What do you think about the return of flare jeans?
