Best shops in Seattle for kids

peekTech innovations and urban chic collide as Seattle shows off its fashionable side through its kids. This city may be the home of grunge movement and flannel fashions, but its grown up a bit since the 90s. From top of the line to slightly used, you won’t find kids this fashion savvy with their own tablets anywhere else in the state.

The Boston Street Baby Store makes it easy to pick up a few toys and new duds for your urban hipster while touring Pike Place Market and downtown. Seattle also welcomed Nordstrom’s own Peek kid’s clothing store, and CrewCuts, the younger sibling of J. Crew a few years back. Kid’s Club carries high-end clothing lines like Splendid, QuickSilver and Tea, but can also outfit you with all of the kid gear you need like strollers, books, and toys. Head up East Madison Street from downtown to The Original Children’s Shop for swaddling blankets, adorable onesies, fabulous graphic teas by Tea and more from this family owned and operated (since 1952!) shop. The kids’ hair salon inside makes this an easy place to get the kids a trim and some new threads all in one stop.

Toys and Gear

The Europe invasion begins at Once Upon a Time where you can pick up tea sets, French brands not found at the likes of Toys R Us, and unique handmade gift cards that will add a personal touch to any gift you aim to give. Tottini became the place to snag modern baby furniture, gifts and gear back in 2006, and they have held onto that  place at the top ever since. Better yet, they added a virtual shopping cart, so even if you can’t make it to Seattle you can still shop the store. Bootyland is your one-stop-shop for sustainable kids wear and toys. They pride themselves on carrying products made of organic, hemp, and PVC-free materials. Sweatshop-free manufacturers or local artists create all products. The moms behind this Capital Hill store believe in quality over quantity and it shows.

Sela’s Small Couture offers up only premium-brand, lightly-used clothing to its customers. Gap and Gymboree are considered the lower end of the brand spectrum. It’s easy to get lost in this little shop as you look for jeans, jackets, tops and shoes for your budding fashionista. If you still want great gear and clothing without the designer labels, head to Me N’ Moms in the Ballard Neighborhood for new and used clothes, toys and gear. Want more? Check out this great list of consignment shops that will help you save a little, while your kids look fabulous.
